Several major FMCG companies such as Hindustan Lever, Coca Cola Reckitt Benckiser, Dabur, Marico and Parle Products had shut down their supply to distributors in preparation for the GST. However, they have resumed their supply easing fears of retail point availability after ensuring GST-compliant invoicing.
Since some of the fresh stock would have reduced rates while others would have increased rates; the prices for some of the products would be kept unchanged at least for the month of July.
A spokesperson for HUL, said: “Our systems have transitioned and we have started dispatches from factories and depots. Most of our distributors will be starting normal dispatch of our products shortly.”
While the spokesperson for HCCB revealed the challenges faced by the company while getting GST ready, “Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) has carried out enablement, sensitisation and capability building sessions for its 4,000-strong distributor base. Implementing changes has not been an easy task.”
