Mr Bijay Kumar, Principal Commissioner, Service Tax of Kolkata Commissionerate revealed that West Bengal has topped GST enrolment charts at a whopping 89.3% compared to pan India GST enrolment rate of 84%. These numbers were shared by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Mr Kumar further elaborates that these numbers are indicative of the state’s preparedness. The next states in the enrolment list are Maharashtra and Delhi NCR which recorded enrolment ratios at 87.90 per cent and 84.6 per cent, respectively.
Taxpayers have the facility of paying taxes either through the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) or through the VAT tax payment system.
