The Andhra Government is demanding that textiles and fertilizers be exempt from GST. Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that he had requested the GST Council for exemption of textiles and fertilizers and that the Council had turned down all other requests for revision of rates post its revision of rates in the Council meeting held on July 11.
Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar has revealed that the e-way bill will be optional under GST regime. He said, “States which have an e-way bill structure in place can continue with it. However, since Maharashtra does not have a e-way bill facility, the state will not be implementing it.”
E-way bill refers to an electronic way bill that is need for transportation of goods from one place to another. The bill is generated by GSTN. Traders cannot move goods of value more than Rs. 50,000 without an e-way bill.
